Notes: Two antique plates of Sacred Objects from the Sioux Ghost Dance on colored and one b/w from the Fourteenth Annual Report of the Bureau of Ethnology of the Smithsonian Institution - Part 2 issued in 1896. Dimensions 11.25" W x 7.5" H with wide margins. Plates clean and unmarked. Blank versos. The Dreamer religion emerged in the late 19th century which was based on the belief that if followers shunned white culture and lived as did their ancestors, the Creator would reward them by bringing dead Indians back to life and ridding Native American lands of white people.
