Notes: Two handwritten letters from JAMES WARE (1756-1815) an Opthalmic surgeon in London (1777-1815) and author of professional treatises and papers on the subject. The first letter, dated June 22nd, 1800, to Sparrow Esq., Portland Place states: "Inclosed is an account of the analysis of ye mineral water on your estate, which Mr. Pepys has just sent me...I hope your eye has continued to mend..." The second letter, dated July 16th, 1807 addressed to Doctor William, Ipswich, Suffolk, "Lord George cavendish called...and gave me the usual fee. I had a message from him requesting that I would meet ye young gentleman at Lord G's house in Saville Row. I was very happy to see him so much recovered from ye severe attack on his eye & begged him to continue the applications you had prescribed for hmi... I am to see him again & hope he will soon be able to join his regiment perfectly restored to health...: Each letter includes integral address leave, postmarked and with original seal-tear.
