Notes: One page letter to Postmaster of North Shields England by the Commander of the Imperial Steamship “Corse”, dated August 1, 1858, to forward their mail to the post office at “Edinborough”. The Corse was the first propeller ship in service for the French Imperial Navy. It operated by steam and sail and served primarily as a dispatch ship including in the Crimean War. It’s most noteworthy passenger was Prince Napoleon, whom the ship ferried to Iceland in 1856. Dimensions: 12” x 8”; in VG to fine condition with two center folds; a few spots.
