Notes: Signed envelope by Sir James Edward Alexander (1803-1885) sent on March 21, 1866 and postmarked Bridge of Allan, Scotland. Alexander served in numerous fronts inluding kaffir, Canada and Crimea. He was knighted in 1838 and made a General in 1881. He was responsible for the preservation of Cleopatra's Needle.
