Stanley was an English Theologian who served as Canon of Canterbury (1851) and Dean of Westminster (1864-1881), when letter written shortly before his death. He wrote extensively on ecclesistical history and biographies. Letter relates to supporting the case of Miss Bowles and is written on Deanery Westminster Stationery.
